Every year, the Omaha World-Herald does a feature story on the person who made the biggest impact on their community in the past 12 months. In 2014, the honor went to the brave clinicians at the Univeristy of Nebraska Medical Center who make up the center's biocontainment unit. Four NSRC members were among those honored.
Six respiratory therapists, 22 nurses, 10 lab workers, five care techs, and dozens of physicians were honored for their role in caring for the three Ebola patients in fall 2014. The NSRC members honored included:
- Jean Bellinghausen, RRT.
- Susan Denny, RRT.
- Frank Freihaut, BS, RRT, AE-C.
- and Deborah Ray BS, RRT.
