Lung Force Expo set for Oct. 13

The Lung Force Expo is a program designed for patients, caregivers and healthcare providers to learn more about the latest trends, resources and research surrounding lung cancer, COPD and asthma. It is scheduled for Oct. 13 at the Embassy Suites, 555 South 10th Street in Omaha.

Speakers from a variety of fields will present current medical information on topics that have the most impact on those whose lives are touched by these conditions, as well as provide up-to-date medical information for healthcare professionals to help support patients.

Save the date for 2017 conference

It’s time to save the date for the NSRC’s 2017 conference. It’s scheduled for April 26 through 28, 2017.

Next year, we’ll be moving to the Country Inn & Suites by Carlson in Lincoln. The meeting will be at the north location, 5353 N 27th St.

Nebraska Telehealth sets July sessions

The fourth session in the 2016 Chronic Disease Management Across the Continuum of Care Series is scheduled for July 20. Registration deadline is July 15.

The series is sponsored by Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals, Community Asthma Education Initiative of Lincoln and the Nebraska Society for Respiratory Care.

Photos from 2016 RT Advocacy Day

Three NSRC members visited Nebraska’s Congressional representatives during the 2016 Respiratory Therapy Capitol Hill Advocacy Day on April 12.

Nan Nathenson, Lisa Fuchs and Linda Nelson met Sen. Ben Sasse and Congressmen Brad Ashford and Adrian Smith. They also met with Patty Sheetz from Congressman Jeff Fortenberry’s office. During their visits, they advocated for HR 2948 The Medicare Telehealth Parity Act (“The Parity Act”).

2016 State Conference: Photos and winners

The NSRC’s 2016 State Conference had another fun and succesful meeting in Lincoln May 19-20 at the Holiday Inn Downtown.

Respiratory Therapist of the Year winners were Ashely Magall, Omaha; Heidi Dostal, Lincoln; and Danny VanRenken, outstate.

Student grants were awarded to Randi Sipp, Southeast Community College; Peter Chambers, Methodist College; Ahmed AlThobaiti, Immanuel/Midlands Hospitals; and Jordon Flynn, Metro Community College.
